Three Year Anniversary
A young, blond boy sighed as he stared at the burnt fatty tuna he had just tried to cook in the skillet. He had left the temperature too high on the stove and during a panic trying to shut the fire off, he accidentally dumped a bunch of salt into the sauce he was making to go with the tuna.
Not one to waste food, he took a large bite of the food chewing it quickly before swallowing it. It was bitter, and the charred remains of the food had him almost gagging, the saving grace was the salty sauce he had tried to create but even that left his mouth dry and desperate for water.
He finished the meal by taking larger bites of the food so he could finish it quickly and go back to cooking. He frowned brushing his finger through his hair trying to figure out what went wrong with everything. Other than the abundance of salt he accidentally spilled the flavor still wasn’t good, and the tuna was completely flat in flavor other than tasting still too fishy.
He had spent hours looking through recipe books trying to find the perfect recipe to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the Barartie, and Zeff wanted to throw a summer celebration for cooks. He wanted to surprise his fellow cooks and show them his skills and how much he improved but he kept on making mistakes with every new recipe he had tried. Burping loudly, his stomach rumbled in protest already full, it was his second meal within a couple of hours, his second meal he failed in.
He stood up on the bar stool and glanced at the other recipes he managed to pull out. The fatty tuna recipe had failed, and so had the deep-fried brisket; a recipe he had overestimated the time in the oven. But none of the food left his tastebuds fully satisfied.
“What are you doing, boy?” Zeff’s gruff voice came from behind him, he stared down at the pile of recipes Sanji had in front of him.
“That isn’t any of your business ya, old fart,” he told the old pirate chef brushing his fingers over his long mustache and watching the young boy glare at him as he hunched over a pile of papers.
He figured out what the boy was doing, he had caught the boy sneaking out of the room and into the library to look over recipes. He brushed down his braided beard over his mouth hiding the smile on his lips. He had been watching the boy for a while, watching how he improved over the years.
“I need help,” he told Sanji after a while, “Get your ass up and help me prepare for the party,”
Sanji scowled but quickly hid his recipes away and went to help the old man prepare.
The kitchen fell silent for a bit, the only sound was the soft tapping sound of the vegetables being cut and stirred into the pot and washed. Sanji’s mind on all the recipes he had yet to try. He was cutting the parsley in his mind on all the recipes he had yet to try.
“When you cook,” Zeff said after a while of silence, “you cook the food you love and improve from there,” Sanji stopped chopping not understanding his captain’s words, but he completed the job he was asked of.
Zeff gave a gentle pet on the young boy’s head after they finished the salad for tomorrow’s party. “Everyone is bringing dishes they like to the party,” he told Sanji leaving him alone in the kitchen again
Sanji frowned as he once again looked through the recipe books, Zeff’s words were bouncing in his head. He stopped flipping through the book, he saw Zeff earlier in the day getting chicken ready and the seasoning. Patty had been making pudding earlier and Carne preparing roast beef. The kitchen had been busy.
Sanji paused as he stared at the recipe book. He remembered the first recipe he made with Zeff, the first time he cooked, he made so many mistakes but Zeff even with all his grunting and annoyance, helped Sanji fix every mistake or lead him in another direction to avoid further complication it had been his favorite meal he created as the rest of the cooks joined in. The sense of community while they ate his food and bitched about the day about the customers. It was such a wonderful feeling that day.
He flipped through the recipe book finding the first recipe he had tried in the Baratie. He loved cooking, and he should express that in his favorite meal and such. He would work on this all night till he got the perfect recipe.
--
The night had been long, with many mistakes but also experiments with new flavors to make the spicey seafood pasta taste even better. He found himself getting excited as worked on the skillet throwing different seasonings and adding the correct sauce to the seafood.
He managed to get it with some much flavor, having the spicey advanced the seasoning and mellowed out the seafood flavor. Or the exact time it took to get the pasta just the right texture and have it joined to the seafood in a skillet. By morning time came he had found himself making the perfect recipe. He smiled at the final product as it sat on the table finally complete. Next to the completed meal was a handwritten recipe he created.
He couldn’t wait for the other chefs to try his new recipe, yawning as he finished the final bites of his food before cleaning up everything and heading to his bed. He had to work in the afternoon to celebrate with the cooks on the Baratie.
Zeff had watched in the shadow’s arms crossed, watching the boy's expression as he experimented with new seasonings or getting the right texture for the pasta. He had found it charming, the usual stubborn asshole boy smiling as he discovered new secrets in the kitchen, loving what he did.
He yawned heading to bed halfway through the night figuring Sanji would be fine on his own. His concern for the boy was unneeded as all Sanji needed was a little push to understand. He knew the boy was a good cook he just needed a little confidence.
By late afternoon the kitchen was buzzing all the cooks in the Baratie were in the kitchen finishing the final touches on their meal, and a few were on the deck managing the grill it was a lively event, jokes were being shared, insults thrown around, but full meals were filling the table, everyone but young little boy.
Sanji came running down the steps having overslept, Zeff eyeing the blond boy quickly setting up his ingredients and his recipe he pinned on the wall. He frowned, running behind in cooking but he had mastered his recipe enough.
“You are running behind, small fry,” Patty said adding the final touches to his pudding cups leaving the whipped cream and shaved chocolate on top.
“Shut up, you old fart,” Sanji scoffed, “I might be running late but my food will at least taste better than some old leather boots,”
The other chefs whooped and hollered at Sanji’s insults ready to watch a small brawl ready to happen until Zeff cleared his voice stopping Patty from challenging the boy, “Show us your skilled boy,”
Sanji smirked and went to work, “I am going to show you, old man, how much skill improved,” he held his knife out and smirked.
“I am looking forward to it,” Zeff chuckled. He had been watching the boy over the years, he was more aware of his skills as a cook.
A couple of hours passed; Sanji was done with his meal adding his plate to the long line of meals. The delicious aroma of savored meat and sweet desserts filled everyone’s nose everyone was practically drooling their stomach rumbling in hunger. They took their seats and started grabbing at the food.
Only stopping when Zeff cleared his throat, “We made it,” he said, a warm summer breeze brushed by them, “three years since we opened the Baratei and I would like to say we have many more years to stay open and feed our costumers the very best,”
There was a loud cheering from everyone, there was no need for a long speech. Just celebrate the achievement of Baratei and their work in this. Zeff sat down taking a seat next to Sanji his plate full of any food his chefs had cooked.
Sanji’s plate was full of different food, each food was savory and full of flavor. He smiled enjoying each meal and watching the rest of his chefs talk about the years in Barate with memories of the three years, the mistakes they made, accidental fires they started in the kitchens, or the fights with one another and customers. It was a fun discussion.
“You did a good job,” Zeff whispered to Sani taking a bite of his pasta, “too much on the salt,”
Sanji blinked and smiled at Zeff as the old man ruffled his hair. Sanji smiled getting the praise he wanted though it was short-lived.
“Well, you lost your taste buds during old age,” he bit back. They smirked at one another and they cracked up.

Hello my dear writer , this is the first time I dare to ask for a request so I hope not to be a bother for you 😥😅 .You ask me if I could ask for a Zoro x Reader . With a plot where the reader is a doctor widely recognized in the seas for his skills and knowledge , as well as being a very beautiful and kind woman . And at some point in the journey , after he unites the straw hats and establishes a relationship with the marimo . A well-known pirate captain , handsome and terribly rich , find
her and confesses his love to her after she had saved him from illness . He offers her a safe and carefree life , but the reader refuses because she already has Zoro and loves him too much (even if he is a heathen who does not bathe 😂). Zoro feels insecure and upset , because this guy can offer his girl things he can't . But in the end it all ends well , with something fluffy and sweet between the two.
(A/n: the request was sent in parts so I added the second half above)

Word Count: 3,500
Your life had settled into stability.
It was comfortable.
You, much like a few members of the crew you were now bound to, had worked hard to study medicine. You had formed a close knitted group with the young doctor on board, followed by the surgeon, Law, once the alliance was formed. It was obvious to many of your friends you were different, in ways established early on into finding the band of pirates. They had known about your public past, aware of the impressive patterns with your medicine and overall beauty, leaving the worst generation in a bid to have you.
Your paths had crossed the Strawhats in a twist of fait, stumbling across a sickened cook that you later found to be Sanji. To express his gratitude, he invited you back to the ship, cooking for you the most abundant and delicious banquet you had ever eaten. The people you gathered around the table with settled into the quirkiest bunch of pirates you had ever encountered; instantly bewitching your need for a better, more connected life.
Amazed by your skill, wit, and charm, Luffy formally invited you to join the crew; much to the disgust of the aloof swordsman to his right.
At first it puzzled you, noting a cruel ignorance the swordsman held with you; treating the other members differently. Zoro stayed clear from you, lining up for Chopper's help over your own more complex skills, stubborn to avoid you as much as he could. He would refuse to glace in your direction, positioning himself against you where he could, pretending you weren't apart of the crew. However, after his collapse at Thriller Bark, Zoro softened, letting you tend to his wounds for the first time.
He felt helpless, almost embarrassed to go to the others, noting how sweet and quiet you were; trusting you would keep to yourself about the degree of his condition. Zoro couldn't believe how close you were, unable to keep his eyes off you, and in a brief catch of his eye he made a move, unable to hold back his lustful feelings for you any longer.
There was no thought to his plan, eagerly pressing his lips to your own, a rush of complex feelings tangled him to project his feelings. He was in awe of you, confused, but also frightened, tasting a brief moment of death that shocked his perspective into focus. He needed to have you.
And to Zoro's surprise you wanted him just as much.
Since that moment the two of you became one, unable to hide any romantic gestures or feelings for one another; tightening your bond once reunited in Sabaody. It was clear, despite the obvious differences, that you were both made for one another. Everybody could see the changes in Zoro, and in yourself, complimenting each others strengths to a more confident and powerful duo; making your crew and Luffy proud.
Being with him brought a sense of peace, comfort, his life intwining into your own so perfectly it was hard to picture life without him. And even through the threat of countless admirers for your beauty, nothing wavered your bond.
That was until the fatal interaction with the Kyoei Pirates.
——————————————————————————
Zoro tumbled down from the crows nest, following the promise of food as Sanji called out from below, dismissing his vigorous training. Wiping over his face he instinctively found himself drawn to the infirmary, collecting you, knowing it was hard to pry you away from your work. He would never admit out loud to anyone, be he cared and loved you deeply, prioritising your health more than his own; knowing you would do the same.
Weaving through the sea of Kyoei Pirates, Zoro ignored their rush for the kitchen, their recent addition to the ship causing more trouble than he liked to admit. Their captain was deeply sick, and in your usual kind mannerism you had offered to heal him, Luffy backing your wishes to extend the crews approval for safety on board until he was healed.
As he approached the door Zoro paused, hearing your voice low and full of sorrow. You were caught in conversation with the captain, Hansuke, who had already torn away your attention from Zoro; leaving your interactions bare. He didn't wish to eavesdrop on your conversation, but there was a deeply rooted feeling he couldn't shake off, almost jealous in how he was around you.
Hansuke matched your energy well, even when ill he was charming, handsome in appearance and quite fond of you. He was taller, clean, his sharp facial features sturdy and his words poised; and Zoro hated it. He hated seeing you laugh at his jokes, agreeing with Robin about his delightful appearance, tending to his every need. His jealousy was poisonous, suffocating him as he saw you, impatiently waiting for the day they were to leave.
"Please, Hansuke, I can't do what you're asking of me"
Zoro pricked his ears to your voice, alert by your claims.
"Nonsense, my love, you know just as well as I do that being with me is the only way"
My love?
"I can offer you more than this life, more than what that swordsman can offer you. I can make you safe within my crew, make you mine, look after you in ways he cannot. Your kindness and beauty will not go unnoticed with me, I can see you for who you truely are. I can tend to your love for helping the less fortunate. You're talented Y/n, in everything you do and we need - I need - someone exactly like you with me. Please come with me. I love you, Y/n"
Zoro's heart dropped, instinctively frightened of losing you, taking a step away from the door. If his worries weren't enough before the confirmation of Hansuke's proposal, they had additionally heightened his emotions towards the situation. He knew there was something amiss about how he treated you, his gut telling him not to trust him, despite the crews instant bond with the Kyoei Pirates.
Putting aside his pride, Zoro knocked on the door in harsh thuds, interrupting you before he heard another love-sick word. "Oi, food is ready"
There was a deafening still which followed, a quick scramble as you whispered to Hansuke, inaudible to Zoro. He turned his back to the door, anticipating your presence, scrambling his mind on something to ground himself; crossing his arms to hold the shake in his posture.
Hansuke's words buried deep under Zoro's skin, wedging his insecurities to the surface, unsure how exactly you felt in return. He knew you liked him, cared for him even, but your sweet nature served as an uncertainty to the swordsman, unable to distinguish between courtesy and lust.
"Hey?" you called out to Zoro, carefully touching his arm. "Is everything okay?"
Zoro flickered his eye down to you, keeping his face neutral, grinding his teeth together in annoyance. Out of the corner of his eye he noted the tall figure of Hansuke, knowing there was a gorgeous and venomous smile on his face.
"Fine" he spat, starting to walk towards the kitchen, unable to wait for you to sink into step. "Everything is fine"
---------------------------------------------
"Alright, Hansuke-san, your fever has reduced rapidly and your stats have improved. If we were in clinic I would happily dismiss you home"
Hansuke flashed you a thankful smile, watching as you slid your chair back, allowing him to stand up from his seat on the examination table. His bright green eyes were soft, as they always were looking at you, tentatively holding you like glass. Even through his tough sickness he was sure to always appreciate your efforts, thanking you continuously through every check-up, administration, and referral.
He would amuse you with stories, letting time pass as you watched over him, growing a bond in the short time on board the Sunny. You grew to appreciate him company, despite the obvious infatuation looming overhead, pushing aside to focus on the goal at hand.
"Thank you, Y/n-chan, your efforts are greatly appreciated"
"I'm just glad to see you looking and feeling better. There is no better reward than that" you returned a small smile, peeling off your examination gloves. Turning away from his gaze you walked away, keeping occupied as his eyes followed over to the sink; the running water drowning out any possible continuation of conversation. You could hear Hansuke's footsteps, lightly trailing towards you to close the distance, determined to continue on his discussion, dismissing your attempt to get away.
"There must be something I can do for you?"
"Just seeing you restore your health is more than enough"
"I had something else in mind" his hand came up to your neck, swooping your hair away to expose at your skin. Sinking away from his touch you turned around, trapping yourself between his hands either side of you, his body cornering tight. "Something a bit more personal if you don't mind me asking of you"
You gulped nervously, unsure of his suggested request.
"Join my crew, Y/n"
"I cannot"
"You can, and will, you just need to realise how perfect we are together. You know how well we are and what we can be"
"Please, Hansuke, I can't do what you're asking of me"
"Nonsense, my love, you know just as well as I do that being with me is the only way. I can offer you more than this life, more than what that swordsman can offer you.
Your throat knotted at his words, unsure of how to properly respond. How could you respond? You had never expected those words from a person you barely knew, stunning you into a shocking silence you hoped you wouldn't have to fill.
Taking your silence in a different manner, Hansuke leaned down, his lips inching closer to your own; wishing to fill the room with his own lustful wishes.
"Oi, food is ready"
You unleashed a heavy breath, relieved to hear Zoro's voice, giving you a chance to escape Hansuke's corner, leaning away from him. The addition of Zoro's presence let him step back, giving you enough space to weave your way out from his arms, stepping towards the door. Caught in the moment your voice softened, whispering out of fear of your boyfriend outside. "Do not mention this or ask me again, Hansuke. I will never abandon Zoro or my friends for a life I don't not know. Do I make myself clear?"
Cutting off his chance to respond you carelessly flung open the door, making you exit to the safety of Zoro, squinting at the abrupt flash of sunlight that beamed overhead. You could feel Zoro's body shadow next to you, his figure slouched and trembling, a wave of panic falling over you. His gaze looked out in front of him, stunned in a fog, dissociating from his surroundings.
"Hey?" you leaned up to his arm, carefully nudging him to look down at you. Your fingers caressed at his muscles, pulling his attention to you in an attempt to regain his consciousness. "Is everything okay?"
Zoro kept his face stoic, however a slight bend in his brows indicated he was upset. The usual emotionless features were easily missed to others, shrugged off by anyone who wasn't you, accustomed to his every move. They were only small features, a slight break in his brow, a twitch of his jaw, even a slight glaze in his eyes; enough to concern yourself with his emotions.
"Fine" Zoro lied, brushing off your concern. "Everything is fine"
As Zoro turned, he shrugged off your hand, eager to escape, his fists balling at his sides. You had a wave of realisation, understanding he had overheard Hansuke's confession, guilt playing heavily on your mind. It wouldn't be easy to persuade him, your actions becoming distant as of late, but you had to try and assure Zoro that Hansuke was not a threat to your relationship.
The hairs on the back of your neck stood up, pressed as Hansuke clicked his tongue, disappointed at Zoro's reaction, expecting more from him.
"You deserve better than that"
"Excuse me?"
"The way he responded to your concern, and how he just dismissed you. I would never do that to you"
"Watch your tongue, Hansuke, you know nothing about what I deserve or my relationship. You have no business in my life, and I will be sure to make it known to my captain of your quick recovery. By tomorrow you and your crew will be gone, and I will be here, staying with my crew. I thought I made that very clear"
Hansuke's hand came down to your arm, your quick reflexes slapping him away as you stepped back. Anger surged through your body, overcome with pure rage for the man in front of you, unable to think clearly. It had become a breech of conflict as his doctor, declaring such a vile and abrupt request that had blindsided you. It was clear things had escalated out of your reach, but your time with Zoro had supported your growth, allowing you to speak your mind freely; years of constant underestimation getting the better of you.
And you would be damned to let anybody get between you and Zoro.
------------------------------------------------
Zoro danced around your presence, avoiding contact with you through meal time, lost in pointless drinking with Law and a few of the Kyoei Pirates; giving into his stubborn annoyance of their existence. As the night wore on, he slowly sunk into his familiar drunken state, completely withdrawn from his surroundings. In celebration of Hansuke's quick recovery and their last night aboard the Sunny, Luffy declared a banquet, ushering everybody out onto the deck to enjoy the few remaining hours lit by the sun.
Sloshing around, he followed the descend of the crowd, hanging back with a bottle of sake clung firm in his grip. He could still hear the drag of your voice, this time occupied by the company of the navigator, fluttering around as you drunk from a bottle of wine. Drawn to the sound of your voice, Zoro looked towards you, quick to lock eyes as he slipped down beside Luffy, stumbling into his seat.
His balance threw him off guard, hazing his sight, falling distant to Luffy's voice as he called out in concern. Raising his hand in a thumbs up, he shrugged off the captain, lulling his head down into his lap, taking another careless slug of alcohol. A harsh swipe forced the bottle to fly from his hand, looking up towards the figure in front of him, confused. "You got over here pretty fast"
Crouching down at his eye level, you focused on his face, attempting to bring him back to a sober level. "I came to make sure you're okay, Zoro. I think we need to have a chat about-"
"About you leaving me?"
Luffy interjected, pricking his ears at Zoro's claim. "Oi, where are you going?"
"Nowhere" you looked over at your captain, reassurance your position to the crew. "I'm not going anywhere"
Zoro snatched back the sake, smirking as he pressed it to his lips. "Bullshit"
Standing upright you sighed, shooting Luffy an apologetic smile. You understood Zoro was stubborn, but you didn't wish to argue here, leading him with enough interest to follow. Working quickly, you snatched the sake back, walking over to the far side of the deck, dangling the bottle in the air to tease him.
Falling for the bait, Zoro followed, stumbling after you as you both turned into the privacy of your own corner. It was quieter, the heavy beat of music and chatter diminishing as a stabiliser, giving you enough privacy to say you half of the story; hoping Zoro would listen.
"What do you want, Y/n?"
"I would like you to listen while I explain what happened" you carefully placed yourself on the ground, patting the floor in front of you. It would be easiest to have Zoro face you, keeping locked on his focus, knowing if he was listening to you; reading his expressions easier when he was drunk.
Agreeing to your request, Zoro crashed onto the floor, huffing as you continued to hold the alcohol out of reach. "I know you overheard Hansuke" you handed over the sake, giving into his overdramatised attitude. "I never expected him to confess to me like that, and nor was I leading him on to think such things. The relationship we shared was purely professional, I treated him for his sickness, that was all"
You waited for a response, some kind of understanding that what you were saying was the truth, his gaze still attentive on your face. "What he said was true"
Zoro's words caught you off guard, your head cocking to the side, bewildered he would say such a thing. "What are you talking about?"
"He said he could give you a better life, more than what I can give you" Zoro's voice was soft, lulling as he muted his lips against the bottle. "He is a better option than me and you know this. He is everything you deserve to have as a boyfriend, not me. Not this useless braindead idiot who has no regard for his friends or loved ones. I don't have any money and I can't give you the life you so desperately want or need. I have been nothing but cruel to you the moment you joined us, and you are a whole lot better than I am to stay with someone like me"
"Where is this coming from? You know that I have and always will want to be with you, despite what anyone else thinks about us"
Zoro was quiet, gulping down the remainder of sake, clanking the bottle down once devoured. His head stayed down, embarrassed to look up, a slight tremor in his lip cracking his voice as his emotions bubbled over.
"He said he loves you"
"But I don't love him, Zoro! I love you! I always have, and yes, sometimes you are standoffish and rude but that isn't a bad thing. You are more than that to me. You stand up to your friends, and don't take shit from anybody, not even me! You know how to protect yourself which is very admirable and an excellent quality for a swordsman to have. You’re hard working and dedicated. You're protective and caring, your humour is dry and still makes me laugh uncontrollably unless anyone else. You're loyal and strong, and yes you may only bathe once a week but I don't mind, nothing compares to spending my days by your side"
"You love me?"
"Is that really what you're taking away from this?"
Raising his head up Zoro met you with a prideful grin, never hearing those words come from you before. He had concluded that he would never hear them, his own repressed feelings rubbing off on you, shielding any affection either of you shared for one another.
"You love me?"
"Of course I do, Zoro. Why wouldn't I love my best friend? You're undoubtably the love of my life"
Reaching out, Zoro's hands sunk into your waist, sliding you up into his lap. His body felt warm, eased, as if he had waited for you to say those words from the moment he first met you. Wrapping his arms around your body he held you close, letting the weight of you in his lap be felt, knowing you were here with him in this moment; loving him exactly the way he was.
Suddenly Zoro didn't care about Hansuke or the Kyoei Pirates, a distant and terrible memory of those who failed to get close to his girl. He could see it now, your actions speaking louder than the words, realising you had in fact said it all along. He saw it in the way you cared for him, wishing to tend to his wounds, even before he allowed. The way you effortlessly smiled when he spoke, even if he made a fool of himself; speaking words that made no sense. How your eye would catch him, even in the most crowds room, looking for a familiar face to guide you to safety.
And for Zoro, that was enough to ease his fears. He felt ashamed for ever questioning your loyalty towards him, knowing what he knew now. He knew that you were both each others comfort in the thundering storm of a pirate life, and though there teased options for a safer one, there was no place either of you preferred to be than with each other.
"I love you too, Y/n, and I always will"

Love Ordeal
SANJI X f!READER
word count: 2k
summary: The Strawhts decide to play Secret Davy Treasure and Sanji doens´t stop asking whom you got.
highlight: ¨Sanji,¨ you sighed ¨I love you, but if you don´t stop, I will be forced to throw your cigarettes in the ocean and straighten your eyebrows.¨
warning: F.L.U.F.F.
notes: Guys! This a part 2/3 of a request for a fluff where they have a s/o that made them a thing with crochet and how they would react. Also, Secret Davy Treasure is like Secret Santa, but you know. ALSO, there is a surprise at the end!
𝕷𝖊𝖆𝖛𝖊 𝖈𝖔𝖒𝖒𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖘, 𝖗𝖊𝖖𝖚𝖊𝖘𝖙𝖘, 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖑𝖔𝖛𝖊!
¨Just pick one, Luffy!¨
¨But which one?¨
¨It doesn´t matter!¨
¨Hmm, can I pick two?¨
¨NO!¨
Earlier that day, an old lady told Nami that whichever path Luffy chose would always lead to another Winter Island. So with the end of the year approaching and the cold weather, you decided to play Secret Davy Treasure, a great South Blue tradition.
It consisted of the participants writing their names on a piece of paper, mixing them in a bowl - or Luffy's hat - and drawing them. Whoever’s name you picked is who you will buy or make a Secret Davy Treasure.
You should have guessed that even something that sounded so simple would be complicated in the Thousand Sunny. The crew didn´t seem to understand nor follow the rules of physics, reality, and the game.
At first, Zoro folded his paper with his name on the outside; then Brook picked himself and didn´t tell anyone. Now you were struggling with Luffy, who couldn´t pick one because A) he wanted to know what was written inside, and B) he wanted to pick more than one.
While Franky, Usopp, and Chopper yelled at him, trying to make him understand, Brook laughed at the whole situation, and the rest of you wished to die and get reborn as clams.
Sanji adjusted the blanket around your bodies and hugged you tighter, chatting until the commotion was over.
¨Will you tell me?¨ he blew some smoke, and you tilted your head to look at him.
¨Tell what?¨
¨Who you got.¨
¨What? Of course no!¨ you laughed ¨This is not how you play it!¨
¨But we are a couple, Y/N-chan!¨
¨.., and?¨ you sang the word.
¨We shouldn't keep secrets from each other!¨
A cloud of white smoke came out of your mouth when you giggled before snuggling deeper in his arms.
¨Okaay,¨ Usopp crawled closer to you, defeated and holding Luffy´s hat ¨he will be the last one.¨
Despite your captain yelling that he should be the first to pick, you were all getting tired and opted to ignore him.
¨Thanks!¨ you used the blanket to cover yourself as you unfolded it.
A chuckle left your mouth when you saw the name written, and the blonde behind you tried to peek over your shoulder. But you were faster to put the piece of paper with the name of your boyfriend inside your bra.
You turned and gave him a peck on the cheek while he pouted.
You would have one week to come up with a Davy Treasure for Sanji, and you knew exactly what to do, but some butterflies still flew in your belly, wondering if he would like it.
As a matter of fact, he loved everything you did, from sweet love to extremely salty culinary disasters. He would find perfection in every little thing done by you.
Enjoying your last days on the island of Snow Globe Pole - yeah, almost as bad as ¨Long Ring Long Land¨ - you decided to tour the city, looking for what you needed to make your gift. Or rather, to crochet your gift.
That was the easy part, for you were on a winter island, yarn and wool were pretty abundant. Every style possible of every possible color, anything that crossed your mind was available in the store. It would have been distracting if you didn´t have the colors already chosen.
But again, so much for an innocent game. So much for a bit of fun. So naive to believe that Sanji would stop asking you whom you picked.
In his defense, he had gotten calmer during the first night. But after seeing the bag you brought from the store, he became even more annoying.
Charming, loving, but still annoying.
¨It´s not Franky, right? His hands wouldn´t fit in it.¨
¨His regular-sized-robotic-mannequin hands would.¨ you looked at him with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.
You could almost see the gasp stuck in his throat and his heart skipping a beat.
After that, he kept bringing you desserts, offering massages, and doing everything in his power to bribe you. Skypiea Sanji was not the real Love Ordeal. Secret Davy Treasure Sanji was the real Love Ordeal.
¨Sanji,¨ you sighed ¨I love you, but if you don´t stop, I will be forced to throw your cigarettes in the ocean and straighten your eyebrows.¨
He grumbled ¨I love you¨ back among some other things and marched to the kitchen with flames on the top of his head. You chuckled and went back to your colorful wools.
Before you chose his gift, you thought about Sanji and the things that he liked or needed. From cooking to smoking and women.
Cooking for him would be outrageous. You wanted to give him something amazing, and you couldn't compare to him in the kitchen. At all.
Women. You were the only woman he wanted and needed, and honestly, you were the woman for the job.
Now, smoking. You would not buy or make him cigarettes, obviously. But he had this adorable and clumsy thing of always burning the tips of his mittens whenever he lit a cigarette.
Because of that, you decided to crochet him one of those fingerless gloves that come with a mitten flap so he could cover his fingers once he was done. Like that, he would be warm and natural disaster-free.
¨There is orange, Y/N-chan! You got Nami, right?!¨ you jumped and almost stabbed yourself with the hook when he yelled in your ear.
¨Oh, my sweet Davy Jones, give me strength...¨ you whispered ¨There is also purple, Sanji-kun. It could be Brook or Robin.¨
He pondered over it a little, frowned, and made his way to the door.
¨Hey!¨ he turned with sad puppy eyes ¨Is this really important to you? To know who I got?¨ he nodded.
You gestured with your head, telling him to come closer. A big and bright smile appeared on his face, and your heart beat stronger. That smile, you would punch the Red Line broken to create another All Blue for that smile.
Oh, how you love this cook.
¨Ok! Just because I am asking I´ll tell you first, ok?¨ he spoke with a lower voice but still sparkly. You smiled and nodded. ¨I got Chopper! And I bought him a new backpack with a lot of compartments for his medical stuff.¨
The way he paid attention to the tiny details made you melt. He was always taking care of others, complimenting the crew - except Zoro - and celebrating even the smallest of the successes.
He showed you the blue backpack, very similar to Chopper´s current one, but a lot stronger, prettier, and more practical. He would love it, no doubts.
¨Well,¨ you began ¨I got... Usopp.¨
You felt terrible about telling him a lie, but you couldn´t spoil your surprise.
¨Since we´re going to winter islands, I don´t want his finger to get tangled when, Uhm... he´s picking his Ketchup Stars, Green Stars, or Let´s-scare-creepy-girls-to-death Stars. I really hope he likes it.¨
If you were not paying enough attention, you would have missed Sanji´s disappointed look, which he quickly hid with a kind smile.
¨You always think about everything, Y/N-chan. He will love it.¨ he kissed your forehead and went back to the kitchen.
You waited until he closed the door to cringe ¨You are going to hell, Y/N.¨
Finally, the Secret Davy Treasure day arrived. You would exchange gifts and then have a nice dinner if Luffy didn´t make a party out of it. He definitely would.
But you were also grateful that today was the day. Since you told Sanji that you had picked Usopp, he has been acting a little upset. The other guys didn´t notice, but you did.
You would always notice. And you had an idea why.
The gift exchanging rules were pretty simple. The Secret Davy had to offer information about the person receiving the treasure, and the others had to guess.
It started with Usopp, whose Secret Davy was Franky. He gave him a bunch of super tools and some colored light bulbs for the ¨Party Nipple¨ idea.
Franky´s Secret Davy was Robin. He gave her a journal with waterproof pages he created.
Robin´s Secret Davy was you, and she presented you with a beautiful copy of a fictional adventure book since you were always reading them on the ship.
Then it was your turn. You held the gift wrapped in a shiny blue paper and began to describe your Secret Davy.
¨My Secret Davy is... slightly annoying sometimes.¨
¨It´s the stupid-eyebrow.¨ Zoro said.
¨Shut up, marimo head!¨
You continued after Nami punched them. ¨My Secret Davy always takes care of us.¨
¨It´s Chopper!¨ you shook your head.
¨Hmm... my Secret Davy is an exceptional fighter! Really strong!¨
¨It´s me!¨
¨No, Zoro! It´s me! I will become the Pirate King!¨
¨Shut up, you two!¨
¨My Secret Davy is...¨ you looked at Sanji and smiled ¨... loving and caring.¨
He looked back at you, confused. Why would you say those about Usopp? Not that he wasn´t loving and caring, but... still.
¨My Secret Davy is... the man of my dreams, the prince of my fairy tale, and the love of my life.¨
A minute or two passed while everyone waited for Sanji to say something, but he remained frozen with a perplexed expression.
¨Sanji-san, I think the treasure is yours.¨ Brook said calmy.
The cook made his way to you slowly, taking the gift from your hands and opening it gently, without tearing the wrapping.
Did he get upset because of your lie?
¨Sanji...¨ you called him, but he kept staring at the gloves.
You saw his eyes fill with water before he excused himself and exited the deck, leaving everyone staring at you.
¨I don´t... I´m gonna...¨ you pointed and left too.
When you entered your room, he was standing, back turned to you. Was he really crying, or you saw things?
¨Sanji-kun?¨
¨You remembered...¨ he turned around, still holding the mittens ¨These colors...¨
¨Yeah, they don´t really match, but...¨
¨I wanted it so much, Y/N. When I saw it, I wanted it so much.¨
He rushed in your direction and hugged you tight. He hugged you and you felt all his emotions, you felt the weight he carried in his heart. Not a bad weight, just the weight of missing someone you love.
You knew that that was the reason he was pestering you so much, the colors. You had chosen the colors that Zeff, Sanji´s mentor, wore.
The fingers were orange and purple, like his striped shirt. You added yellow details of his hair; the blue of his ascot, and the white of his apron.
As you said, they didn´t match, but apparently, Sanji didn´t care.
He would always share stories about their lives and cook recipes that Zeff taught him. Despite him always calling him old man or damn geezer, the Red Leg was his father.
¨Thank you, Y/N-chan. I loved it.¨
The sound of him sniffing made you hold him stronger.
¨I miss that damn geezer.¨
¨I´m sure he misses you too, Little Eggplant.¨
¨Oi!¨
You squeaked and laughed when he threw on the bed.
¨I´ll show you Little Eggplant!¨
Hey, Guys! SURPRISE! Here´s my first decent art? hahaha THE MITTENS!
I don´t know if the quality dropped. I´m using krita and still don´t know how to adjust the settings stuff when I´m saving a jpeg. Anyway, I hope you liked it!
